Pictures from 2-21-12 letter

2-21-12 letter

This week has been super awesome. I've been worked to death ha. And I got strep throat which was not fun and I definitely wasn't the same for a bit when I had it but that's ok. I got some antibiotics and everything so I'm good now. That's fun that you and mom are going to Nauvoo in the summer. Happy Birthday mom!!!!! Well I'm glad everything for the most part is going good around home.
We have two investigators with baptismal dates and hopefully we'll have a few more this next week. We don't track more than two hours a day. We usually use the area book and make phone calls. We've been having a lot more success lately which has been great. Sorry you have to give a talk in church mom. The Bible dictionary talking about faith may be a good place to start though. It talks about knowing or believing in Jesus Christ which is the base of any testimony. I think that having a testimony means that those things that we have faith in, (like the atonement and Book of Mormon) we take that faith and we apply it to action. Our testimony is backed by our action I believe. Our testimony is only as strong as our faith. That is pretty much cause they go hand in hand.
This week I've been working on understanding the Atonement and it's been so mind blowing for me. I have a new respect for the power of the atonement it's amazing to feel the power of it just through studying it for an hour a day. It's something that if every person understood, the world would be a much better place and it'd be a lot easier to do missionary work. But it's great to see the blessings it brings into the lives of the people you teach it to when they start to use it.
I think Derek is going to Japan. I have no clue why I think that but that's what I think. Also my apartment is nice. It's not bad. I like it.
How's everything at home? Hopefully good.
Love all of you

P.S. These are some more pictures- the ones of me with the sombrero are at a member’s house and that's a good looking fish huh? I caught it yesterday during preparation day. Tell Bo and Tyler to match it ;)

Hi mom and dad, how's everything going? That's cool to hear about the car being able to be parked in the garage and also I'm glad you both had a good week. I've actually been studying the Christ like attributes a lot lately and Hope is the next one I have to study. It's a great chapter in PMG. When Ryan goes into the MTC get his address for me please. That’s cool about everyone else's calls. I'm sure they'll all love it there. It's kind of a bummer that they don't get to go to the best mission in the world like I do ha.
This week has been crazy though there have been so many dropped investigators that it's been hard to teach any lesson but we still got a few. The members cook super great but we get fed about once a week I think. Me and Elder Cartwright take turns cooking but he usually does most of it. But I'd love some recipes that are pretty simple that way I'm not cooking all day.
I'm going to buy my jacket today right after I'm done emailing. Also everything else is going good, my bike works great. Our apartment is nice it’s not a super nice place but it's perfect for missionaries I'll be sending pictures of it home next week probably. The weather here has been great. It's only rained like twice and it's been around 50 degrees everyday pretty much. Also thank you for the package it was very nice and yes I got everything in it. Also groceries are expensive I can't believe how much it costs! But it's all good i eat a lot of mac and cheese and that keeps me happy.
Well thank you for all your support. I love you and I love being out here serving. It's been amazing to see how the spirit prompts us and when we do what we feel only good things come from it. It's such a blessing to have the gospel in all of our lives and we all have the responsibility to share this gospel with everyone. I hope you all are actively trying to find people to share the gospel with as well. Have a great week. I love you all lots.

P.S. Take care of the missionaries please I know they have a huge area and everything but invite them to dinner or something one day.

Feb. 6, 2012 Email

Hi everyone,

How's everything going? Hopefully pretty good. Tell Brooke happy birthday for me. And tell everyone else hi for me. Who won the super bowl? I'm with the Hispanics so they're always watching to wrong kind of football.

That's good to hear that the stake conference was good and everything. Our stake presidency always gives good talks.

My Spanish is decent right now. It's getting better-still everyone talks too fast.. Carlos and Abby who are my first lesson with an investigator- they're doing great. They actually just committed to be baptized on the 26th of this month. I'm super excited for that. They're the greatest family ever.

My bike is working well. Everything is doing good. I want to buy a lighter zip up jacket to have another one that isn't fleece. I'm going to use my card on that one. Also thanks for sending that package that'd be great to have. Me and Elder Cartwright are getting along great. We haven't had any arguments. We just go out and work all day. It's been awesome so far. It's hard to get appointments with the Hispanics because they'll set them but they hardly ever keep appointments. But we still are finding some which is great. They're really great people and I love serving them. The members take care of us really well as well. We have about two dinner appointments a week so not a lot but the food is great. Sorry I don't have a lot to say this week except that this church is true and that I'm loving the mission oh and that North Carolina is beautiful.
