Brett's email 7-9-12
I can't believe it's been 8 months!
Hey family, How's everything going this week? Sounds like things are still as crazy as ever back at home. Sister Martindale was baptized this Saturday and confirmed on Sunday. It was an awesome experience. We had just barely reactivated her husband before we started teaching her and her husband was the one who baptized her. It was a great experience for all of us. Also we'll be having another baptism on the 28th and we're working on a few more people as well. It's been awesome here. The Pittsboro branch is growing a lot. Yhe stake redid the boundaries and added 45 active members to the branch so now we're officially over a hundred and we barely have room to fit everyone in the building... that's a great problem to have.
I got my new companion Rlder Lopez from Honduras. He's super funny- he's been out for a little over 19 months and is a great teacher. He's also making me run every morning which is great- it actually makes studying the scriptures in the morning a lot easier.
Sounds like girls camp was fun... I've never been able to understand why the call it camping... you don't camp. You should call it girls week. I cant believe it's been eight months either... it's going by way to fast. I feel like if I blink I'll be home. Could you by chance send me a good multivitamin the has a lot of B vitamins in it... and also talk to Brandon about some sort of protein that is super low in carbs that's pretty much pure protein- kinda like the beef isolate stuff that Sean had that I almost threw up while drinking, Something like that would be great. When will you be sending my memory card so I can send you mine with the baptism photos? The cd's are great thanks for the package I loved it. I drink a gallon of water a day any more than that and it can be bad for you. And yes I check for ticks- I've had a few that members just tell me to pull them off it's easier that way. But yes President Bernhisel is an amazing man who is definately inspired by the Lord. I need to get going, we've got a lot to do today but I love you all and know that this is the true church of Christ.

hey
fam, how's everything going this week? sounds like things are pretty
busy... like usual. but idaho sounds pretty sweet i kinda miss it up
there. but this week has been pretty crazy we've been going hard like
usual and we found quite a few potencial investigators
which was fantastic, and also sister martindale will be getting
interviewed for baptism here this week i'm super excited for that and
also her step daughter is going to be baptized here soon as well. also
we have an investigator that we found last week who
is progressing rapidly, he's already read through first and second
nephi and he's still going strong and he love the book of mormon so he
should be progressing here shortly. the area of pittsboro is definately
growing and i'm loving it. we've taught quite
a few people in spanish this week which was great my spanish is coming
along nicely, Elder Warner and me speak it all the time which helps out a
lot. he's being transfered this week so i'll be getting a new companion
on tuesday. we met President Bernhisel
on Wednesday he's an awesome man and i have no doubt that the success
that the mission is having will continue. it's been over 100 degrees
here everyday it's terrible to be out tracting in the heat but people
feel bad for us so they let us in to talk with
them which is good because most people have a lot of interest after
we've shared the first lesson with them because it's something that
makes a lot of sense. i've been drinking water a lot except the one day i
didn't and i definately paid for it... i felt
terrible that night but it's all good i'm doing great now. my ward
mission leader is going out to utah this week he may say hi to you if
you're around, brother blackwell he's the bomb i've learned so much from
him. so what are you going to be filming in goshen?
we've used those videos for some of our lessons and they've been
perfect. the kids are going to have to stay small and stop growing so
that when i get back i'll be able to reconize them. i finished the book
of mormon again i think that's the fifth time here
on the mission... it's so amazing i love that book it brings so much
peace and light into my life and into the lives of those who read it. i
have no doubt it's true and no doubt that this church is true it's an
amazing blessing that we have to be a part of
it and to have the book of mormon and Prophets to lead and guide us.
well i hope you all are having a good week i love you all a bunch.

Hey fam, Sounds like you've all had a pretty fun week... my week has
been pretty crazy and super hot! We were out knocking doors the other
day and it was 104 degrees outside- I thought I was gonna die... it's
not even funny. Work here in Pittsboro is still going great we're
keeping busy which is always good. That's pretty crazy that Makenzie is
getting married! You'll have to tell her congrats for me. Ya I've heard
there's been alot of fires out west- has it been super hot out there or
something? I hate the heat... it's the worst thing ever. I love North
Carolina it's amazing super beautiful and I'd probably live out here if
it wasn't so hot.
How's things going with Brandon and Melissa's house? Hopefully everything is working out.
Well this week was pretty much just knocked doors and tried to find more investigators so not a lot happened. Like always there was a few miracles that happened... it's crazy what happens when you follow the spirit. we were knockin doors and hadn't had much success in this area so as we were getting back in the car me and elder warner saw this guy and we both had the feeling that we should go talk to him. So we did. We had a lesson right there and at the end he told us that the message was exactly what he needed and he wants to change his life and be an example to his kids. Experiences like that are the ones that take away all doubt that this really is the Lords work. And we get those experiences everyday. We just got a new mission president this last week.. it was so hard to say goodbye to President Cottrell. I honestly didn't think it would be. But the work is still moving on here in North Carolina and I'm loving every second of it. It's been a huge blessing to be able to serve. I wanna tell you all thanks for the things you've done for me through the years because if you hadn't I wouldn't be at this point now- living the Gospel of Jesus Christ knowing without a doubt that it's true. I love you all.

Hello fam, How's everything going this week? Anything new happening?
Where are you going for the next 10 days dad? You're super busy!!
Well this week has been a pretty good one, we've been teaching a lot of the same people this week- multiple lessons which is great. It's been pretty busy though. I've been super tired all week which has been a good thing cause we're working hard. I had my first southern bbq on Thursday I think it was... it was fantastic! I could eat bb (this is where his email ended earlier-I waited for a while and then this next part came)
Well that was weird it just randomly sent my email.... sorry I'll finish it up- no worries it won't be that short. But I could eat bbq all day everyday with some hush puppies- those things are great! I'm not liking the coleslaw but that's alright. A member got me doing green shakes every morning for my breakfast which they are actually really good. I put kale and spinacj in them and usually an apple or banana to cover up the flavor. They're super good. So I am eating healthy here. We don't spend our money on anything more than food and soap. We have a 115 dollars a month to use for all that. I think I'm doing okay on money. I'm going to buy a pull up bar so I can work out a little bit more and probably some hair clippers as well so that I don't have to pay someone to do it or use my comps.. We're teaching a family right now from El Salvador they're so great- they came to church yesterday which was huge. And then we're teaching a lot of part member families. There's a lot of less active members here that we work with as well. There haven't been any restaurants that I've eaten at that we don't have out there except Hardee's which doesn't have anything on Carls junior! They don't even have the double western bacon cheese burger there!!!! I was super disappointed when I found that out... The gps is amazing- thank you so much it's been hard to find out where people live with all these trees and I'd never find them without it. It's so great out here a lot of the people we go visit live on like dirt roads and a decent amount of land it's great! Well hope everything is going well for you at home- sounds like you had a good time on fathers day... happy fathers day dad. love you all.
