November 25, 2011 Emails

Hi Mom. It's great in here so far.   It's hard because we don't get enough sleep. We have class for 6-8 hours a day.  It's kinda rough.   My companion is from Modesto California. We still get along really well as well. We only have four people in our room which is kinda nice. We do room with the zone leaders but they're super funny. I love the packages thank you so much for them, they were great. I take pictures every once in a while. We're only supposed to take them on P days though. I gave Cam and Chubbs a hug the other day. Yes would you forward his emails to me? Also can you get my friends addresses for me so I can write them a letter? That'd be very much appreciated. What's Brookes email? I have Brandon and Brittani's I just need hers. Well I gotta go now but if you could get me those emails it'd be much appreciated.

Hi Dad. I’m doing great. But I'm super busy all the time. It's been amazing in here though I’ve loved it. How long is it gonna take to finish off the shed? This is hard but so worth it. I can already bare my testimony and pray in Spanish. The investigator we're teaching is from Chile and is super hard to teach. We've taught him three lessons and he's reading and praying about the Book of Mormon. Well I gotta make all my emails quick so I'll talk to you next Friday.

MTC Drop Off

It was definitely a different experience this time around dropping our missionary off at the MTC.Since you are only allowed to have one car we decided to just take the 4 kids.  We all went out to lunch at Chili's and then headed off to Provo.
We parked at the Provo Temple and took some last pictures of all of us together.  We weren't the only ones who had that idea.  The temple grounds were filled with missionaries and their families!  After we did that we all piled in the car.  All 6 of us in a Toyota Camry...lets just say we were all glad we only had to drive a couple blocks!
Missionaries lined the sidewalks as we pulled in, wearing badges that said HOST.  From the time we stopped the car, all got out, and said our goodbyes was about 90 seconds.  We laughed when they asked Brett if he had his phone or car keys.  Really?  Do missionaries really try to bring their cell phones?!?  Apparently.
Brett wouldn't even look Mom in the eye as he told her goodbye.  I think it was a little harder to go than he thought it would be!  There were very few tears shed because of how fast it all happened.  I also think it had to do with the fact that we were surrounded by the happy smiling faces of the missionaries!  Instead of being surrounded by sobbing families, there was a lot of laughter and hugs.
As we drove away I decided that this setup was WAY better than the drawn out goodbye we used to do.  I don't know if everyone agrees with me, but I liked it a lot better this way.  Short & sweet.

Farewell

Yes, there are only 2 pictures of that day....We were a little busy and forgot to take any!  Brett did a great job on his talk.  We will always remember the time Brett said pregnant instead of prophet during Sacrament meeting!

First Picture from the Field

A mother of one of Brett's friends works at the MTC.  She sent us this picture.  It was a very pleasant surprise!  We are assuming this is Brett's companion, but we're not for sure.  I guess we'll get more details later!
